A four-person specialist practice on Marshville Road in Poughkeepsie, New York. We have worked on one layer of the technology stack since 2016, and we intend to keep it that way.
Our story
In 2015 Angela Pearson was the messaging administrator for a hospital network in the mid-Hudson region. A supplier's payment-remittance emails had been failing SPF for months. Nobody noticed until a contract lapsed and the finance office worked backwards through the mail logs.
The technical fix took about forty minutes. Finding it had taken eight weeks, because no one in the organization owned email as a discipline — it belonged to everyone and therefore to nobody. Hudson Relay Systems was registered the following year to be the people who own it.
Ten years on, we are deliberately small. Four engineers, one office, no sales team, no outsourced delivery. Roughly seventy percent of new business arrives by referral from clients or from the managed service providers who bring us in for the mail layer.
The team
Founder & Principal Engineer
Angela spent eleven years running messaging for a regional hospital network before starting Hudson Relay Systems in 2016. She still writes the audit documents herself and takes the discovery call on every new engagement.
Lead Systems Engineer
Postfix and Exim specialist. Joined in 2018 after a decade on the hosting side, where he spent most of his time explaining to people why their shared IP was on Spamhaus.
Deliverability Analyst
Reads DMARC aggregate reports the way other people read the newspaper. Runs our seed-list placement testing and the monthly client digests.
Migration Consultant
Has moved somewhere north of nine thousand mailboxes. Believes strongly that a cutover with no rollback plan is just a hope.
How we work
No work begins without a written scope and a number on it. If scope changes mid-project, we stop and re-quote.
Every change is logged with a timestamp, an author and a rollback path. You get the log, not a summary of it.
We decline work outside email infrastructure and refer it on. Being the second-best option at everything helps nobody.

During business hours a person picks up. Retainer clients get a number that works at 3am.

Where we work
All delivery is remote. On-site visits are included at no travel charge within a two-hour drive of Poughkeepsie — which covers most of the mid-Hudson region, the Capital District and northern New Jersey.
Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Kingston, Beacon, Fishkill, Wappingers Falls, Hyde Park, Rhinebeck.
Albany, Troy, Schenectady and Saratoga Springs — typically a same-day drive when on-site work is needed.
Westchester, Rockland, northern New Jersey and the five boroughs, delivered remotely with quarterly visits.
Clients in eighteen states. Remote delivery with scheduled calls in your time zone, Eastern through Pacific.
